Essential Vietnam travel information

Vietnam is S-shaped peninsula, with long coast line, thousands of off-shore islands and archipelagoes; the biggest of which are the Hoang SA (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelagoes. Vietnam’s mainland covers 331,689 square kilometers located in South East Asia share border China, Laos, and Cambodia.

Visitors will fascinate with early morning floating market at the Mekong Delta where fruit and vegetables boats are peddled, the mountains in the north of the country tower over small villages where life continues simply with traditional costumes still proudly worn, old French hill stations and old building which show the influence from colonial period, the ancient former imperial capital as Hué, and an old charming sea port which artwork such as great paintings are gathering here in Hoi An.

Climate : Vietnam travel

The northern part of Vietnam has a humid tropical climate, characterized by monsoons. From May to September, are very hot with plenty of rain. In winters, between November and March, are cold and relatively dry. During the transition months of April & October, and spring often brings light rain. The hottest month of the year is June. January is the coolest month, usually beset with a cold north-easterly wind. The Southern of Vietnam is in the tropics, and very close to the sea, so its climate is steadily warm to hot all year round. Temperatures are slightly cooler between December and April, which is also the dry season. Rains begin in May and become heavy from June to August, but the showers are sudden and short, with the sun usually reappearing fairly quickly. There is a danger of typhoons from July to November.

Currency 

Vietnam’s currency is the Dong (VND). Vietnamese use both coins and paper notes. Coins include VND 5,000; 2,000; 1,000; 500 and 200. These values have paper note equivalences. The following values: VND 500,000; 200,000; 100,000; 50,000; 20,000; 10,000. exist both in the new polymer form and the old normal paper notes. In general,1 USD is approximately 16000VND and 1 EUR approximates 20000VND

Language

Official language is Vietnamese. In major cities, you can find new generation who can communicate in English and some of the old people who still be able to communicate in France
