Taking 3 hrs road trip from Chiang mai to Chiang rai. Admiring rural area of northern Thailand, which passing beautiful scenery along the way, such valley, village and mountain.
One of the landmark of Chiang Rai is White temple or Wat Rong khun that you won’t miss. A temple of art, break all rules of Thai temple that we ever seen. The temple is located in the small which is a hometown of the top Thai artist, Mr.Chaleamchai. His intention was not only show the beauty of Thai art but would like help people in his hometown.
Visit the hill tribe village. The village is on the mountain village which consist of 6 minorities lives close by another village. The village lives in ordinary house, and work in their home. Every day life, they do craft work, weaving the fabric and selling souvenir. Walking around and talking to them. Perhaps, you can also take pictures with long neck hill tribe lady.

Lunch at Local restaurant
Drive to golden triangle where 3 countries meet . There is only separated by Mea Khong river and Ruok river. The area surrounded by the mountain. In the old day, this was once well known as opium train where the tribe make and trade illegal drug.
Driving to the house of opium. Spending time to see exhibits the history of the opium trade . The display shows the relation of poppy cultivation and 12-mounth cycle of the hill tribe lifestyle and drug trafficking routes between Northern Thailand and Southern of China.
Then drive back to Chiang mai you will arrive in the late evening.
